The upside of learning foreign language

On my weekly English class, my teacher likes to get us students using past tense to describe our week with classmates.

I often find it difficult to think back to what I have done in the past week. Whenever I have to describe my week, I become a person without memory. It seems that either I tend to forget things easily, or I hardly notice what I do everyday.

This sounds scary to me, because I often think I live my life seriously. Now this simple English class activity actually pulls me out from where I used to be, and wakes me up to the fact that I am actually living my days unconsciously. I would say this is part of the upside of learning foreign languages.

Why do I call this blog IOTA?

Hello,

IOTA is a new word to me. I just learned its meaning from my English dictionary. It says that IOTA is the 9th of the Greek alphabet, and it means a very small amont.

The reason I use IOTA as my blog title is that I see there are a big number of blogs on the internet. Mine takes another small part of it, so I’ve decided to call it IOTA.

By the way, English is not my mother language nor even a second language, but I am learning it.
